WHAT DO STEPHEN MINISTERS DO?
Grace Lutheran Church partners with 3 other Christian churches in Visalia, to offer Stephen Ministry. Stephen Ministry is a one on one confidential lay ministry to another who is hurting. Stephen Ministers walk beside a care receiver, listen, pray for him or her, and help him or her work through life’s difficulties.
Stephen Ministers work alongside Pastors to care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support for people going through a difficult time. If you have gifts for caring, encouraging, and listening, consider this exciting ministry.
If you are interested in receiving care, or in the training, contact Pastor Bob Schroeder in the church office. The training only comes around every two years or so. A new 2 year Stephen Ministry training course will begin January 10, 2011.
Stephen Ministries care for people who are:
- Grieving
- In a crisis
- In need of long-term care
- Dying
- Hospitalized
- Divorcing
- Experiencing losses
